The area of Europe’s forests has increased by 9% in the last 30 years, one third of Europe’s land area is covered by forests.
Wood as a sustainable raw material for construction is the only material that does not run out because it grows more than is needed. These forests are also managed sustainably, allowing the trees to reduce their carbon footprint as they grow and only harvesting those needed for their use and for the care and renewal of the plantation. In sectors such as construction where large quantities of material are used, the use of wood is very important as it reduces and/or avoids the consumption of non-renewable materials. No other building material requires so little energy to generate.
