The project
A sustainable response
Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, there has been a sharp increase in CO2 emissions, which are the main cause of climate change.
One sector where urgent action is urgently needed is the construction sector, as buildings as a whole are responsible for 36% of greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union.
Wood offers unique possibilities to combat global warming as it is a sustainable material whose production provides a negative balance in CO2 emissions and its transformation requires much less primary energy than in the case of steel and concrete.
Aware of this reality, the INTERREG SUDOE EGURALT project seeks to apply and disseminate innovative solutions to promote mid-rise construction with wood in the Sudoe area, contributing to the global challenge of combating climate change through the promotion of the use of natural materials from sustainable and renewable sources.

A reality
Better, wooden
“High-rise timber construction is a reality: the Hypérion tower in Bordeaux reaches 16 stories and a height of 57 m.
High-rise timber construction contributes to the sustainable development of cities. The Eguralt project works in coordination with various countries and institutions to promote and disseminate the use of wood as a sustainable building material.
But this is not the only existing high-rise building constructed with wood, as there are more examples all over Europe: Adoma social housing in Toulouse, Le plateau des Possibles residence in Bègles, Crous Josephine Baker student residence in Pessac, UPNA Faculty of Health Sciences in Pamplona, Our-Shelves-Houses (OSH) residence in Madrid, Wittywood office building in Barcelona, Social housing Zurbano in Sabadell, Entremutilvas sponsored housing in Mutilva, Residential building in Granada, Sponsored housing in Cornellá, Hotel Mondego in Coimbra, Silva Tower in Bordeaux, Impulso Verde building in Lugo, La Balma residence in Barcelona, Residential building Buenavista in Madrid, Entrepatios Las Carolinas cohousing in Madrid, Sponsored housing in Hondarribia, Arborea Bègles social housing in Bègles, Redbridge School in Lisbon, Apartments in Cavallers in Lérida, Cirerers residence in Barcelona, 6×6 block residence in Gerona, ARV8 residence in Madrid, Supervised residence in Pamplona, La Borda Residence in Barcelona, Wood’Art – La Canopée in Toulouse and Office Building Perspective in Bordeaux.
